September week 4, 2025, Terry’s Grocery

Family-owned Terry’s Grocery has served as the grocery store for the Smiths Station area for over half a century. Being a truly local business, the family has lived and supported the city through their work, as well as in their personal lives. They’ve constantly given back to their community and worked with the city for some of our events.

Richard Terry, the current owner, was born and raised in Phenix City, having come to Smiths Station in 1968. Richard got his start working in his family’s store in Columbus as a teenager and expanded upon those skills. His father opened the store fifty-six years ago, driven by a desire to work for himself and build a successful business.

Terry’s offers fresh-cut meat, quality produce, and groceries. In addition, they offer U-Haul, money services, and even balloons for that last-minute party you may host. Richard prides Terry’s Grocery for having polite staff and a close-knit environment, even knowing customers by name, providing friendly faces to the citizens of Smiths Station.
